I Can’t Believe This Is the Earth: Unbelievable Natural Wonders

The Earth has always had awesome, surreal sceneries which left the impression that the planet was a sibling of Mars. Here are a couple of beauty spots that will leave you lost for words and eventually breathless with their staggering natural beauty.

1. Antelope Canyon, USA

Antelope Canyon which is situated in Arizona is a must-see slot canyon, not because of its geological formation but of its shape and colors that make it look like ocean waves. The lane-like alleys are a result of many years of abrasion, which have left a part of the sandstone beautifully curved and lightened by the sunbeams that are filtering through the holes above. The contrast of the shades and the darkness gives an unreal mood to the whole setting, it is like not a part of the Earth.

2. Lençóis Maranhenses, Brazil

Lençóis Maranhenses National Park in Brazil is a whole new dimension of the world of white and blue where land and water are not two separate mediums anymore, especially when the rainy season makes the white sand dunes become the turquoise lagoons. In short, the piece of the Earth here is as if one were located in arid zones of the universe, staying in an oasis in between celestial bodies. The extraordinary contrast of the desert, which is unbearably white and dazzling, and the water, which is as pure and clear as crystal, causes a conundrum in one’s mind that could be an unknown place in the universe.

3. Cappadocia, Turkey

Cappadocia is in the news for its rock structures which are called the ‘fairy chimneys’ during the eruption of the Volcano in olden times and went through sculpting due to earthquakes and wind. It is a rock-strewn region full of cones, many of which are hollow and have been carved into homes, churches, and even cities underground for centuries. And what a sight it is to watch colourful hot air balloons fly across the valleys, making a truly spellbinding scene on the ground.

4. Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia

Salar de Uyuni is a 4,000-square-mile salt flat in Bolivia, and it is the largest of its kind on the planet. If it becomes rainy time, a given area of the salt flat is touched by a thin layer of water and becomes a virtual giant mirror, reflecting the sky in an absolutely perfect way. Hence the final picture is so out of this world that one can hardly believe his/her eyes when they see the absence of a line that separates the earth from the sky- it’s as if both the ground and the sky were without any boundaries. Such phenomena are so otherworldly that we can’t really feel the presence of our planet in them.

5. Mount Roraima, Venezuela/Brazil/Guyana

Mount Roraima, which is also known as a table-top mountain, sits on the border of Venezuela, Brazil, and Guyana. The flat top of Mount Roraima reaches a height of almost 9,000 feet which is nearly the same as the peak of the surrounding forest, and the contrast between the two is very striking. Despite the eerie look on the mountain’s top, the tourist can see the thick and fluffy clouds on the mountain during the wet season. This mountain exemplifies the fact that there are parts of the world that are so different in terms of flora and fauna that they appear to be out of this world.

Such magnificent places are just a few examples of the many breathtaking marvels on this earth that tirelessly and continuously remind us of our planet’s incredible variety and remarkable beauty. This world, filled with such unbelievable and imaginations-inspiring places, is such a one on which the diverseness and spectacularity are broadcast.
